Compatibility is the ability of different materials to blend and form a homogeneous system or the ability of different materials to exist in contact or close proximity to each other while having no deleterious effects on each other.
    Features and Benefits
EPDM Compounds with peroxide cure system is compatible with silicone is used in structural glazing systems. For an effective structural glazing system is designed in a complete and unified systems including frame, glass and glazing components such as structural silicone, gasket, tape, blocks and other ancillary elements.
A consequence of incompatibility can be loss of adhesion of the silicone sealants to the substrates. GRI manufactures a wide range of silicone compatible profiles being used in various structural glazing system projects and structural facades system. Input to the design of profiles is supported by GRI based on its long time experience and expertise in the rubber profile manufacturing.
    Quality and Standards
The silicone compatible compounds have been tested and approved by the major manufacturers of silicone sealant for incidental contact and non-structural applications. These compounds include dense and sponge EPDM as well as dense silicone. GRI compounds have been approved for full contact in structural glazing applications by Momentive and Sika following the ASTM C-1087.
    Applications
In structural applications structural silicone adhesives bond the glass to the metal framing system. Rubber gaskets are used to provide proper size and position of the structural seal. Direct contact between these gaskets and the structural silicone make it necessary that full compatibility be established. In incidental contact and non structural applications such as a cap bead or weather seal a degree of compatibility is required.
It has a long term performance and sustained appearance. But it is purely depending on all products coexisting and being compatible with each other
